THE LONG BEACH SHOW

TOO CLOSE TO ANA

Why this show was held just 2 weeks after ANA is wonder. The timing just was not right. Attendance from both dealers and the public was light. Activity at the show seemed quiet. However, activity in the auction was anything but quiet.

Our take on activity of the market, things are okay. BUT this was not a show to make any judgements from.

For those tracking: our “super secret stealth seller” had another strong show. He sold nearly $750,000.00. It was mostly soup to nuts of just stuff. He clearly has become the envy of the bourse floor!

LEGEND MAKES SOME NEWS

For Legend Numismatics it was an amazing show. We did do a a few sales to collectors (each five figures) but it was a big deal we did that people were buzzing about.

On behalf of one of the real greatest collectors of today, our partner Bruce Morelan, we purchased more of the Oliver Jung Type Collection. This deal was in excess of 4,000,000.00! We now have spent about $10,000,000.00 buying coins from the collection-for our customers  (Bruce was the biggest buyer).  We’ll pit that against ANY thing anyone else has bought this year!

This round included these MONSTER coins:

H.01  1793 PCGS MS65 BN  CAC

H.01 1794 PCGS MS67RB  CAC -how it has survived is amazing. Its looks like it was carved out of a smooth RB brick.  This coin is beyond being just a wonder coin!

1C  1793 WREATH PCGS MS66BN CAC

H.05  1792 HALF DISME PCGS MS66 CAC

50C   1795 PCGS MS63+ CAC  ELIASBERG. What a stick this coin has!

$1  1795 PCGS MS66 CAC The holey grail of 1795 FH’s! Looks like a medal!  Ex Bullowa

Legend had advised Bruce this deal was too pricey. We did negotiate and met in the middle of the original asking price. Our idiology and Bruces-for true wonder coins like this, you always have to over pay. Bruce has the vision to build this great set and knows what it takes to do it.

Buying coins like these and holding, can be like money in the bank. Great coins never change from being great coins. It also does not matter the value of a coin either. If you have a monster 1880S PCGS MS67 Morgan and you paid $1,000.00 for it. It will always be better then the rest and worth a strong premium.

A P.S: our favorite little kitty Black Cat added to his awesome collection this show too. Legend purchased the 20C 1876CC PCGS MS64 CAC for $380,000.00 hammer out the auction on his behalf. At some point soon, we’re going to have to stop call him Black Cat, and upgrade him to tiger! We do display parts of it at the ANA Shows through the ANA Museum. MEOW!

NEWPS

Just wait! We picked up an 800 (heavy to transport)  coin deal last week. Its got soup to nuts but we’re only going to post the best coins on our site. We hope to have it all presentable by the end of the month. We also hope to finally post some GEM Buffalo 5C as well.

This weeks offerings are all handpicked and are exceptional (as expected from us). Highlights include:

1C  1909 INDIAN PCGS MS67RD CAC

25C  1907 PCGS PR68 CAMEO CAC POP 2!

$1  1795 3 LVS PCGS MS63+ CAC  WOW!

G $1 1880 PCGS MS68+ CAC WOW!

We strive to have an offering for everyone. Our biggest problems are finding the coins. For a price you can buy dreck, or NON PCGS CAC coins. But if you care about quality, you’ll know there are not a whole lot of great coins floating around for sale. Just check out the strong auction prices on the nice coins.
