We used to always look forward to the Long Beach Show. Today, it is about half of what it used to be and is more baseball card oriented. In the 2000’s, by set up, we’d usually have spent as much as $1 million dollars and sold almost as much. Sadly, as the internet grew, collectors found fewer reasons to go to coin shows. They can sit at home, see good images and deal online. Plus, look at the explosion with the auction companies; only FUN and ANA are the “must not miss” shows.
Before the show we purchased a whopping 4 coins totaling $69,000.00. Of those 4 coins, 3 of them were a prearranged deal. Oh how times have changed! Fortunately for Legend, our best coins come from our customers. Having over 40 years of sales of great coins to collectors, we now live to buy them back or take them on consignment. The market remains firm. Legend had a very successful January with sales in excess of $3 million dollars to collectors. On January 1, we sold 2 coins for just over $1 million dollars. Great way to start the new year. We cannot get enough of top PCGS CAC coins or CACG coins (come on people start submitting). Granted a lot has to do with finding specific coins; but cool rarely seen coins do well and typically are snapped up fast. However, coins purchased within the past two years at top levels are more sluggish to sell in general at those paid prices. Freshness does matter.

GOLD-GENERICS ARE TOO CHEAP TODAY
We do not have a full understanding why the premiums are so low on generic gold. We can sell you up to 100 PCGS MS64 Saints (NOT CAC) for as low as $2,300.00 a coin (dates of our choice and prices subject to change). How ridiculous is that? We looked on Collectors Corner and most dealers are asking $2,750.00. As of this writing gold spot is $2,065.00. To be able to buy a PCGS MS64 Saint for only 11% above melt? CRAZY!!! This is the time to buy, especially if you are a gold bug like us!!! The reason we honed in on MS64 Saints, as the prices rise, so do the premiums. If you are interested in any, please call or email us. As gold rises (which we expect), it is hard to not expect the premiums to rise greater.
As time goes on, we will be offering other generics as well. We think today’s almost non existent premiums present a tremendous opportunity. Having gold in your holdings has proven to be a great storage of value over the years. We just scratch our heads as to why people are not taking advantage today. There is plenty of money around.
