Seems this past week the beginning of the market was purely driven by generic. Most other sales were slow. Then came mid week, things started to change. We sent out our Coins Of the Week email and we had 3 instant cash buyers for an 25C 1805 PCGS AU55 CAC. From then on, we had restarted activity on all kinds of coins from the web site.
Every year, tax time always slows the market. This year, it was a bit disguised due to the rapid rise in gold. In our opinion, gold will eventually hit $2,500.00 per ounce. However, we are still mystified about how premiums for coins like 64 Saints are virtually non-existent still. Give it time, that WILL change. We do know there had been larger orders for generics popping up last week (100+ coins per). In our opinion, the best play right now: sell some bullion and buy some coins like 64 Saints-even if the premiums do start to rise. When we started offering 64 Saints a month ago there were some coins floating around. Today, those coins are gone. Don’t think about this forever!
Lastly another way to play the gold market, and one that we have ALWAYS recommended is to build some kind of Gold Type set. LEGEND NUMISMATICS AND DMPL MORGANS
This week we have probably our biggest offering of choice/GEM DMPL’s since way back in 1997 when the late great dollar collector Jack Lee sold us his entire DMPL Collection. Jack specifically chose us to buy his coins; we had not known they were even for sale. We were honored. Then when he sold his second assembled set, we bought that too.
Legend Numismatics has a long history with DMPL’s. Our problem is, we will never just buy holders (we are the people who paid $228,000.00 for the 1881-CC PCGS MS67+ DMPL out of the Fun Sale). We know what real true deep mirrored coins should look like. Our President Laura Sperber years ago had even written an in depth report about how each date should, or is known to come. Most collectors do not know there are 3 types of DMPL’s-gray, silver, cameo. Many collectors and dealers relied on it. Today, it boggles our minds how many hazy shallow mirror coins are in holders. You will NEVER get that from us. We also know how to grade DMPL’s; there are bald areas with no mirrors to look out for. Today’s group of DMPL dealers are really just holder sellers. LEGEND IS NOT.
We mention this about Legend and DMPL’s because we have an offering this week that has apparently been off the market for 20+ years. We wanted to stress that they are REAL quality DMPL’s, and you can trust the grades and eye appeal you get from us. Legend is not any Johnny come lately to DMPL’s.

This week is 100% Dollar mania!
As you can see from the above paragraph, we have a megawatt offering of DMPL’s this week. We can not recall offering this many stunning pieces in years (over 15). Each coin has is seriously FRESH to the market (we estimate they have been of the market for 20+ years).
Do not think too long on these. There are so few DMPL’s on the market today. All but one coin in the group are CAC (and we don’t know what the CAC gods were thinking on that no bean).
