It is our belief that long ago this coin saw a light dip. That is NOT harmful nd does not strip away any of the surface. Overall, the surfaces are quite impressive. We rarely find this date so clean and smooth. The surfaces do have a bright look and a little luster. The color is an original deeper orange gold with pale gold highlights. There are no discolorations from wear. In fact its really hard to see where the wear is. All of the details are well struck. The eye appeal is excellent!
PCGS 6, NGC 13, CAC 4. No PCGS CAC piece has sold via auction since 2019. A NON CAC coin brought $19,200.00 in 2025. Because of all this, the price guides are way behind the current market for a better early $5. A very tough date that is seldom seen.
