SUPER GEMMY all day long! A absolute + coin for sure.
The obverse has strong and deep mirrors while the reverse obviously sat on felt and has deeper toning. The obverse mirrors are clear and have strong flash. When you twirl the coin, the mirrors have a “watery” roll. The only toning on the obverse is by the peripheries. The reverse toning (all toning on this coin is 100% original), is a deep navy/gray from probably sitting on felt for a very long time. The contrast is strong. Miss Liberty and the details are fully struck and have generous frost. The eye appeal is very pleasing!
PCGS 3, NGC 2, CAC 6. PCGS has graded 3 in PR66+ Cameo. Do NOT be fooled by the pops, this is a hard coin to find in GEM. Your taking 6 coins possibly in 66/66+. The current Collectors Universe value is $5,750.00. A great example of a 164 year old obsolete coin!
