1861-S $20 Gold Liberty Type 1 PCGS AU55 (CAC)

A really HIGH END coin that looks better than just an AU55 (NO promises). We do call it a GEM AU!

Of course there are tiny and scattered ticks. However, the ticks can only be seen with a strong glass. Nothing stands out. The coin does emit a slight luster. EVERYTHING about this coin is totally ORIGINAL. The color is a natural deep gold with faint copper highlights (more on the reverse). There is LIGHT “dirty” toning-proving the coin is totally original. This is far from being ugly. Miss Liberty and the details are well struck. The wear is light and is even. The eye appeal is super nice!

PCGS 77, NGC 159, CAC 14. Just 14 beaned is NOT many at all. CAC has possibly beaned only 40 coins finer. The last PCGS CAC piece to sell via auction brought $7,800.00 08/2023. The current Collectors Universe value is too low at $6,000.00. You can NOT buy a PCGS CAC piece for that. A great early Civil War gold piece that does not appear with any frequency (with a CAC bean). .
