We love better $3 gold pieces like this. We totally agree with the AU58 designation as well.
We make no guarantees, but this piece should cross. The surfaces are clean overall and only when you use a strong glass can you detect some very light and scattered ticks. A few interesting die clashes are visible too. The color is a deep gold highlighted by hints of pale green. Miss Liberty and the details are very well struck. The eye appeal is beautiful!
Only 5000 pieces were minted for this Civil War era date. PCGS 17, NGC 71, CAC 2. The last one to appear in major auction sold for $5,175.00 04/08 Heritage.
