EARLY REPORTS FROM PAN
PAN is a fairly large regional show.
We spoke to three dealers who have different perspectives on the show. The first: our “super secret stealth seller.” He said things were very good. By midmorning he had broken six figures in sales. His new policy is no counteroffers for the first two days. He was surprised by his sales volume. He has a bag of soup-to-nuts deals.
The second is a dealer who hits all the smaller shows he can. We kind of urged him to attend this show. Yesterday he wanted to buy. His comments were too much competition. Today we guess he will be in selling mode. He never seems to have any problems selling.
Our third dealer pal is like old faithful. We knew they would sell well. They arrived behind schedule and saw only one person. That one person spent over $100G and promised to come back for more! Our friend also said everyone was running around trying to buy—they still needed coins badly and were finding zilch. Along those lines, we were told of a pretty big dealer who brought no coins but was there to buy. Sounds like he may not have a successful trip.
We were not sure what to expect. But all this is good news. Sure, it’s important to know if the public shows up, but we wanted to take the market’s temperature on supply and demand. If dealers still need coins, to us that means their customers are still buying or their inventories are not full. This is all good information.
It is also our strong opinion that this show will eat into Baltimore’s activity a little. A lot of people—including us—did not take tables at the summer show. We expected far less trading at that show. However, we will be there along with many other dealers Tuesday and Wednesday. Call it a bad attitude, but we’ve already waved the white flag on buying (OMG, any idea how long it’s been since we bought something cool at a Baltimore show?). And we had a bad new table. We’re so screwed; we surrendered only for this show.
GOLD
UGH OH!
We are still bullish on gold. Now it’s looking like it might settle in the $4-$4,500.00 range.
In stocks, you’re supposed to buy on the dip. You should be here too. Only problem: we can’t find any generic Saints or even $20 Libs in 65/66/66+ CAC. Our buy prices are still strong for non-spotted coins. We are buying nothing—and we post messages and call around every day!
We still HIGHLY recommend a gold type set. It can be an 8-piece set of the full monty (there are some definite stoppers in this set). Or, a very wise thing to do—IN OUR OPINION, just buy neat gold coins! A box of 20 can’t hurt either.
In summary, Legend is still VERY bullish on gold. We do not see any mass sellers right now. And the supply of better gold coins is nonexistent.
We still encourage you to take some profits while the prices are high just in case this dip lasts a while. Call or email us: legend@legendcoin.com. We do not quote on generics unless they are in our offices.
A MAJOR ANNOUNCMENT
THE COLLECTION OF A LIFETIME
This week we are giving you a small taste of what we have named The Collection of a Lifetime.
The majority of this collection is proof type. One or two early matched original proof sets are included. All coins in the collection were put away prior to 2011—most have been off the market for dozens of years. Some coins even came direct from the cornerstones of buildings! This collection definitely meets the term “fresh.”
This huge collection (hundreds of coins) will take time to process. We expect to have the second group (much larger) of the coins ready by mid-June. Sorry, NO lists are available yet because we do not know exactly what is in it.
We named it the Collection of a Lifetime because, from what we know, it truly is. It is a collection we’ve known about for 25+ years. When we got the call from the owner, we started shaking; we were so excited. No lie that we did not sleep that night. These coins will NOT disappoint—just look at the small group we posted! Note: We left the coins in their original holders, so there are no PCGS TrueView images.
Again, we won’t have the bulk of the collection until mid-to-late June. Sorry, we can NOT answer any questions about the deal. Stay tuned!
NEWPS
If you notice, lady luck (that’s all we can say) has smiled on Legend and has sourced us some coins lately. Our only regret is that we can’t find gold (which we HIGHLY recommend buying as it eases for now).
We are proud to offer the very first small installment of the Collection of a Lifetime. ALL of these coins have been off the market for many years—without exception! They are really nice coins!

A REMINDER: We will NOT have a table, nor will we be walking the floor of the Baltimore Show. It’s a first for us. But we have seen diminishing crowds, and since it’s summertime, the crazy traffic going back to NJ made our decision easy. We will be back for the fall show.
OUR OFFICES ARE CLOSED FRIDAYS. ALL THAT REALLY MEANS IS WE ARE NOT IN TO TAKE CALLS. WE ANSWER OUR EMAILS DAILY. WE DO NOT CHECK FOR PHONE MESSAGES UNTIL 9 AM MONDAYS.
