Can not say it was another wild week, but we did manage to sell a lot of goodies. The highlight for sure was the $10 1801 PCGS MS64 CAC. Great coin. It went into a Type set we are helping to build. Several five figure coins were also found great homes.
We had worked our phones and emails really hard the past few weeks and it is paying off. We have some awesome deals coming in. One set has a few Early silver pieces from the 1700’s, another is a complete set of Proof Shield 5C 66-67 with many are either cameos or Dcams.
We’ve also been able to locate a few nifty coins as well. Please don’t stop sending/selling us great coins! We need far more coins than these!
The coin market has really grown since the advent of certification. In the older days, we used to pray for people like Bill Gates to jump in. Today, there is more money in this market than previously thought was possible. The market has dried up the supply of better coins and the collector oriented coins are treading like hotcakes. It is great when collectors are buying as they have driven prices up. But when their sets are finished, there are just a few crumbs left on the market for everyone else to buy. We can tell you, with demand far outstripping supply on “better coins” and so few killer coins to trade, it has really made our job very difficult. It has also been a challenge to actually see prices rising. Generally, only if coins sell via auction are prices reported. We can tell you, with each major auction, prices for the better coins have been getting higher. We do not anticipate the market being refilled anytime soon. So if you buy the best of the best, be prepared to pay more!
