LEGENDS OFFICES WILL BE CLOSED THE LAST WEEK OF DECEMBER-WE WILL BE CHECKING EMAILS
DECEMBER IS BETTER THAN NOVEMBER
Who would have thought? Typically, December is wind down time for not only Legend but for the entire hobby. Not much happens before FUN.
Wrong! For whatever reason, this past week we sold FOUR six figure coins! We’re still pinching ourselves. We already blew past $1 million dollars in sales for the month-a number that was what we thought (if lucky) we’d do for the entire month of December. The really nice coins are just not out there. And when they do surface-BOOM! They are gone. Even sales off the web site were unusually active and strong. We see activity as remaining strong for the next two weeks. In November, things were more stagnant possibly due to the mid term elections and inflation uncertainties.
At the Las Vegas PCGS Invitational, we easily sold coins. Many were at full retail prices. Dealers wanted to replenish their depleted inventories. Our “super-secret” stealth seller sold as much as $400,000.00-something that even shocked him. He said it was soup to nuts. That is huge information to know. It shows the market is more than alive and well. A side note, the Invite was also extremely well attended by BOTH collectors and dealers. If you can, you should try to attend one of these small shows.
Grading continues to be strict at both grading services. We do feel the current grading standards WILL enhance values in the long run for the true quality coins in holders. At least the coin docs are being tamed for now. And that is a good thing.

LEGEND RARE COIN AUCTIONS
THE INTERNET ONLY SALE CLOSES SUNDAY STARTING AT 7 PM EST
We are pleased to confirm our Regency 56 Sale was a HUGE success!
There were some patches of weakness-mostly in Type and some “off” coins did not sell well, but anything nice and especially with a CAC bean, brought really strong money.
Several coins enjoyed crazy numbers:
All of the older holder coins in the front of the sale had on average 40-50 followers and between 238 and 671 eyeballs. The highest bid coin was the NGC Black Holder Washington Quarter. It brought $12,925.00! There were 453 people who read the page, 42 people followed it, and 21 bids were made. This activity surprised us.
10C 1942 PCGS PR68+ CAC brought a world record $20,562.50. It had 27 bids, 62 people following it and 441 people who opened the page. Next week we will publish a remarkable story about the winning bidder.
$1 1904-O PCGS MS65 CAC brought a record $7,343.75. It has 54 people following it and 625 people who checked it out.
$1 1922 MS 64. Wild numbers: $4,230.00 all in. 811 viewers and 49 followers. This was not a CAC coin.
We have long considered anything over 200 eyeballs and 15 followers to be strong. In this sale, most lots blew those numbers away! There is no question it translated into strong prices realized. One thing is for sure, we don’t have a million registered users, however we have the RIGHT buyers!
For whatever reason, this sale had the most eyeballs, live internet bidders, and followers then any sale we held in 2022. Even the auction room was packed-another surprise! The strong prices realized more than proved out the heavy participation.
A MAJOR ANNOUCEMENT
LRCA WILL BE HOLDING WEEKLY AUCTIONS
As the collectible coin market continues to evolve, Legend Rare Coin Auctions is making moves to evolve with it. We listen to what are customers are saying. Beginning in April 2022, an online only session was added to each Regency Auction, featuring quality collector coins valued from $200 to $2,000. These Online Only Sessions have proven to be a huge success for both buyers and sellers that Legend Rare Coin Auctions is proud to introduce the Legend Weekly Internet Auctions in addition to hosting our Regency sales. .
The Weekly Internet Auctions will feature 50+ coins per week, valued at $250.00 up to $2,500 per lot. Like the Regency Auctions, these sales will still be vetted for quality (no Genuine or Details-holder coins will be offered). However, where in the past, certain issues of U.S. coins would not be accepted (particularly modern issues), there will be no restrictions as to coin types. ALL coins will be sold with NO reserve!
A 17.5% buyer’s premium will be charged on all lots sold. Consignment settlement for the Internet Auctions is only 7 business days following the sale.
The first Weekly Internet Auction will go up as a Watchlist on January 15, open for bidding on January 20, and will soft close on January 29 at 7PM ET. The second Weekly Auction will go up and open for bidding on January 27 and soft close on February 5 at 7PM.
