Sort of. We attended the PCGS Invitational Show with meager expectations of finding any coins. Prior to the show we got a text about first shot on a deal of coins we sold a few pieces too. We met the party Tuesday night. After 3 long hours for the first time in 2 years, Legend had some serious MONSTER coins in stock! Of course we paid OVER published values. While two years ago buying a dozen coins may not have been much, today, its a flood! In a hot market like this you can’t succeed in buying coins if you are a sheet buyer. We stepped up and bought some unquestionable PHENOMENAL coins!
When the show opened, a local customer came in and said his bank is closing its branch and he had to clean out his box. More coins for sale! Here too we bought everything we could (highlight: the $1 1881 Northern Lights PCGS PR67+ CAC). Then we be bopped around the floor and spent more money on PCGS CAC only coins. For the first time in 2 years we spent over $500,000.00!
Do NOT think there is any flood of coins. The big deal we did was a timing issue for a collector readying to retire. We know of major dealers who usually have 12 double row boxes that are working with only 3-4. Look at how ALL the auctions have shrunk in size. Virtually ALL the dealers brought few if any coins to sell at the show. Think about it, do you really see neat killer coins being offered today outside of auctions? NO!
With shows being back on, we are starting to see a few coins trickling out. Demand still far exceeds supply. THE MARKET IS STRONG AND CRAVES QUALITY. Next up: the ANA Show. It is our opinion, this could be the biggest attended ANA in years. There is still so much money out there looking to be spent. We can’t stress enough: sell into it!

QUALITY IS EVERYTHING
The ONLY coins that bring the big premiums are QUALITY and eye appealing coins. There can be as much as a 100% price difference between two coins of the same date and grade. Even in a strong market like today, poor quality drags.
Also know that you can have a NON + coins better then a +. Now, more then ever it is critical you look at the coin you are buying.
Legend will only offer handpicked PCGS CAC coins. Even if you do not agree on the grading, buying CAC absolutely avoids problem and doctored coins. Our motto is: THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTION FOR QUALITY. You can never go wrong paying up for the best. Several of the coins we bought prior to the show rank as full MONSTERS. Yeah they are the type you see and go WOW! Even in down markets collectors still demand WOW caliber coins (which usually hold their values).
Do NOT buy non CAC coins on your own. There is a reason why they are not CAC. Work with a dealer. Sometimes you can get near misses at attractive prices. BUT you need to know what you are getting. Example: there is an MS68 gold coin out there. Its beautiful. BUT it is really a 67+. Even if you do pay a little stronger for it, you still need to know the true grade of the coin. Eye appeal alone does not create value (but is a big part). If your building a serious collection you do NOT want to own over graded or problem coins., it hurts the values of other coins. We can not say that enough.
