As we have said before, if you have the right coins, you can sell them. We believe because we have 100% PCGS/CAC, 9 out of 10 times we will have the right coins for our customers. Our web site had very decent activity. Much to our surprise, this week we sold several hundred thousand dollars. Included in that number was a GEM PCGS MS65+ CAC High Relief, A very rare PCGS CAC MS63 $10 N/M, a 1937-D 3 Leg PCGS MS66 CAC, and a few more killer coins. All of these coins listed were sold well above the mid five figures each. We are still expecting “a quiet time” for the coin market for few more weeks as typical. But again, if you have the “right coins”, people are very much there to buy them.
Better gold is still strong, but we’d be lying if you did not say it has softened just a touch. That is why NOW is the time to buy better gold. Sure, you may still have to pay a premium, but it won’t be a runaway price like you’ve seen for the past few years in auctions. We just sold a $5 1798 PCGS AU55 CAC for $29,500.00. Sure, that was strong money (we paid really strong), but the coin was a GEM AU and how many have you ever seen? We know the collector will do well with the coin down the road. Meanwhile you can buy better generics a touch cheaper right now. Give it time, the “strength” is taking a breather for now. We predict at the end of September the entire market will be strong (today it is simply being selective).
Buy the nice coins you see today. Do not let real opportunity slip by. We went to a dinner with a world class, super sharp dealer. He is buying every better PCGS/CAC coin he likes. He strongly believes “these coins are only going to go up in value”. That was not the first time he has said that to us. We have tried numerous times to see what he has squirreled away, he won’t show anyone what he has. We do not fault his logic-the supply of cool PCGS/CAC coins is ever so limited.
