EXACTLY WHAT WE EXPECTED
Attendance was strong. Attitudes were positive. It was what we expect from FUN, a darn good show!
Activity for the first two days in the hotels was beyond strong. The major buyers were back in force. We sold over $250,000.00 in the rooms to a total of 4 dealers before the show opened-which for us to sell wholesale was really strong. The dealers craved nice coins. Even if a coin was priced strongly, they still bought it. Our “super-secret stealth seller” did almost $750,000.00 the first 2 days before the show (his final number was $1.3 million).
Everything from soup to nuts was selling. We even sold a coin for six figures! There definitely was stronger interest in Type vs. what we have witnessed over the past year. However, if it was gold, it sold! Early gold was very strong in demand. Better Saints still had sizzle. Also, GEM CC Morgans were eagerly sought as well. We’re pretty sure with the major FUN auction week, you’ll see many records or simply crazy prices realized occurring. There is still too much money chasing too few coins. Speaking of that, we got an email offering Miami condos-look at the starting prices: $6 million to $10 million dollars each! There must be 50 units for sale. Think about how many classic rarities you can buy with 6-10 million! It did not take all that much money to make the black hole coins fade even deeper. We think the quality rare coins market will continue to expand for 2023-regardless of a recession (we’re not just saying that to sell coins). There are just too many collectors buying today.
