AN EXPLOSIVE WEEK
Legend sold over $1,400,000.00 to collectors this week. The majority of it was unexpected. The highlight coin sold-the fabulous $1 1893-CC PCGS PR65+ BM CAC. That coin is now the Type Morgan in a world class Type set we are building. The purchase price was well into six figures. The majority of what else we sold was better gold. We did not expect to do the big numbers until ANA time. Our sales for July were at a record level of just under $3,000,000.00!
Then came the Legend Regency Auction. Prices there were in some cases “beyond Pluto money”! See below for highlights.

The generic $20 gold in the sale did exceptionally well, even with the crack out game shut down for a while (PCGS is beyond tight). Collectors still see gold as a safer haven to place their money.
We could have listed many more coins. If you had bet us where the auction would have ended up just before it started, we’d have lost a bet. We had several HUNDRED people register to bid at the last minute. These were very aggressive collectors. We do not need to have 30,000 people register and only 5 bid. LRCA reaches the right buyers! Again, we did not expect the strong prices realized.
The market is alive-even with the massive ANA Sales coming up. How crazy will those be? We now think they will be off the charts in prices realized too.
The key to realizing strong profits (like the Unforgettable Commems): BUY THE BEST QUALITY YOU CAN AFFORD AND HOLD. It really is that simple. Biggest problem: most people do NOT buy the best quality and they certainly do NOT hold.
LEGEND BUYS THE LIFETIME ACHEIVEMENT COLLECTION
We had been working on buying this collection for a while. We outright purchased this collection for several million dollars! We are very happy to say this long-time collector made some money! His coins have been off the market over a decade.
There is everything from a Large Cents to MS Better Saints. This for sure is one of the biggest collections we have owned in years. The collector worked on some interesting sets for sure! He had a great eye too. Congrats to the collector for building such a great collection-it was a Lifetime Achievement!
We expect to be offering the coins through the month of August. Talk about NEWPS!!!!! We will FINALLY have a whole big group. Currently the coins are at CAC for beaning.
NEWPS
We had more than 7 NEWPS. We got hit on a few $10 Indians we had. At least we have a very quality oriented group left. The highlight for sure is the 25C 1930-S PCGS MS67+ FH CAC. The coin is phenomenal! It looks as fresh and frosty as the day it left the bank. And it’s not priced crazy either.
There is also the $5 1818 PCGS AU55 CAC Harry Bass coin. A GEM Original AU piece.
We hope to have a small group of late date Walkers posted next week from the Lifetime Achievement Collection.
