1914 $5 Gold Indian Head PCGS MS65 (CAC)

Until a few years ago, this was part of the famous all-time #1 Half Dome Collection. As a dupe, we sold it to the Naples customer. This coin has not been around since Half Dome bought it in 2012! This is a fresh coin! We rank it VERY HIGH END!

We are still enamored by how “perfect” this coin is. We used strong magnification and looked all over. The best we could find was a microscopic tick or two. The surfaces are ultra-clean and are smooth. Even the dreaded right reverse has just two tiny ticks. The coin looks as if it sat somewhere undisturbed for a very long time. It has developed some light natural toning—however, this coin is in no way “dirty.” There is a moderate luster visible. All of the details are sharply struck. There are no discolorations on the highpoints. The eye appeal is great!

PCGS 29, NGC 20, CAC 10. A PCGS CAC example sold 05/2026 for $20,740.00. The price guides are nowhere near reality on coins like this. Maybe one day they will hire reporters to be current.
