NON GOLD TYPE
We can just about sell any choice/GEM Gold coin we get. We scratch our heads looking at some seriously rare and HIGH END coins that languish in our inventory. Those coins are always NON GOLD Type. Why the lack of interest?
We can not understand for the life of us why a MS66 Seated Dime generally available around $1,500.00 or less, usually with low pops does not get purchased right away. Ditto, Nickel coinage no matter how rare has taken a beating on the chin for years. Ditto with Commemoratives (unless wildly toned) and other non gold series.
If anyone cares to listen, it’s time to consider Type. Our favorite area, is PR Barbers in all denominations. They offer the opportunity and affordability to complete a set. Even In the lower grades the pops are not high. Proof Shield Nickels have drifted downwards badly over the years. You can easily complete a set in PR65/66 for much less than $25,000.00. There are so many different areas of Type to explore and are highly collectable. All Nickel coinage ( Liberty nickel and earlier ) generally are over 100 years old and their design are obsolete. Plus, look at the beauty of many of the series. Yet demand seems to be all about gold (at least for us).
We implore collectors to do their homework and check out Type. In our opinion, You’ll be surprised at what bargains the current market offers. We consider any coin with a pop of less than 12 to be genuinely rare. To be able to buy any coin like that for below $5,000.00 just seems like a steal.
Think about Type. The opportunities are strong!
